Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) was born on October 2, 1869, into a Hindu Modh family in Porbanadar, Gujrat in India. His Father name Karamchand Gandhi, was the chief Minister (Diwan) of the city of Porbanadar. Gandhi learned tolerance and non - injury to living beings from an early age.

A. Champaran Styagraha - They started first movement in Bihar Champaran Styagraha in 1917 was the first Styagraha movement led by Gandhi in India and is considered a historically important revolt in the Indian Independence Movement. 

It was a farmer's uprising that took place in Champaran district of Bihar, India, during the British colonial period.

Britisher force fully pressurize the peasant to do Indio Cultivation. There were two main systems of the Indio cultivation - Nij and Ryoti. Within the system of Nij cultivation.
Gandhi was invited by small farmer Raj Kumar Shukal.

B. Kheda Stayagrah - This is started by Mohan Lal Pandey on 1917 - 1918, who demanded the remission of taxes due to poor harvest or crop failure in kheda village Gujrat. Gandhi was invited and joined the movement on 22 March, 1918. 

C. Khilafat Movement(1919)- Khilafat movement was started by Ali brothers to show the protest against unjust done with the Turkey after the First World War. All India conference was held in Delhi where Gandhi was elected as a president.

The success of the Khilafat movement made him the national leader.
D. Non - Cooperation Movement (1920) - Non- Cooperation movement was launched in 1920 by Gandhi due to the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Gandhi thought that this will continue and Britishers will enjoy their control over Indians. With the help of congress, Gandhi ji convinced people for starting non-cooperation movement in a peaceful way which is key factor to attain independence.
But due to Chauri Chaura incident, Gandhi ended the movement because in this incident 23 police officials were killed.

E. Civil- Disobedience Movement (1930) - Gandhi in March 1930 addressed the nation in a newspaper, Young India and expressed his willingness to suspend the movement if his eleven demands get accepted by the government. But government not responded. 
Gandhi started the movement with Dandi March from 12 March to 6 April, 1930. Gandhi and along with his followers marched Sabarmati Asharm to Dandi in Gujrat. Break the salt law by making salt on 6 April, 1930.

Under this movement student left college and government  servant resigned from the office and boycott foreign clothes. In 1930, the Lord Irwin's Government called for a Round Table Conference in London and Indian National Conference refuse to take part in it. So, to make sure that congress participates in conference he singed a pact with Gandhi in 1931. It was known as Gandhi - Irwin Pact.

F. Quite India Movement (1942) - M Gandhi launch Quite India movement on 8 August, 1942, during the second world war to drive British rule out of India. In the movement Gandhi deliver "Do or die" speech.

As a result entire members of Indian national congress member's arrested by Britishers and imprisoned them without trial. But protestor protest continue across the nation. By the end of World War II. British decide to hand over the power to India. Gandhi called off the movement which results in the release of thousands of prisoners. Finally India gets freedom.
